‘president trump wants a space force – a groundbreaking endeavour for the future of america and the final frontier,’ wrote brad pascale, trump’s 2020 re-election campaign manager, who penned the email. the correspondence details plans to create a ‘new line of gear’ based on one of the design.
it is unclear whether the most popular logo will actually be adopted by the sixth military service, or just used on merchandise produced by the campaign to mark the announcement. the six logos all feature the words ‘space force’, with one also including the slogan ‘mars awaits’ although the space force really will have nothing to do with mars. another is almost identical to NASA’s official logo.
space force has quickly become a major part of trump’s presidency. during the national space council meeting last month, US president donald trump expressed his desire for the pentagon to establish a sixth arm of the US military called ‘space force’, dedicated to conquering the far reaches of space. following this news, bloomberg businessweek invited eight leading designers to propose their own logo design, several of which, including one designed by renowned graphic designer milton glaser, perfectly mocked the president and the new branch.
