WHEN a community faces a crisis or a time of hardship, you can bet your local real estate agencies will be there to show their support.

That was the case yesterday, when Klemich Real Estate agents handed out 150 trays of strawberries to househunters at open inspections across the state.

Company managing director Oren Klemich said he stocked up on the berries to support local growers, and to save the fruit from becoming landfill.

Strawbs at open inspections

Steve Alexander from Klemich Real Estate hands out strawberries to Ben and Sarah Gleed, and their children Olivia, Chloe and baby Ella at an open inspection in Erindale on Saturday.

“It’s cost the industry millions, and everyone’s hurting terribly,” Mr Klemich said.

“I thought, blow it, we’ll play our part and hand out 150 punnets at our open inspections and, firstly, help out the strawberry growers with a purchase, and secondly remind people that these things aren’t full of needles.”

Mr Klemich said those in the industry were quick to help others in times of times of hardship.

“The industry’s agents across SA do a really good and generous job of helping those in need — whether it’s through sponsorships, charity auctions and donations — they’re great supporters of charity and community causes,” Mr Klemich said.

“This will help the farmers and hopefully restore some faith, and when people enjoy their punnet hopefully they’ll go out and buy some more.”
