A CONTEMPORARY family home that was the first reno project for The Block contestants, Kyal and Kara Demmrich, has hit the market in Killarney Vale.

Current owner of 16 Carlyon St, Jamie O’Sullivan, said that what he loved most about the house was the charming facade combined with its deceptively large interiors.

“From the outside it looks like a little surf cottage, it has such a nice street appeal,” he said.

The property has a charming, beachy facade

“But the best thing is when you step inside, it is really impressive with the high ceilings and open-plan living spaces.”

Originally from the eastern suburbs of Sydney, Mr O’Sullivan has been at the property for three years with his wife and two children. He said that the main bedroom is an amazing retreat.

“It competes with any top end Sydney home with the walk-through wardrobe and double ensuite,” he said.

“It’s such a quiet house and street. The loudest thing we can hear is the clock ticking.”

Mr O’Sullivan said that he had watched The Block with his wife Tara, and they loved the work that Kyal and Kara did. He said that the property had really lived up to his expectations, and that he had not really needed to change much about it with the quality finishes.

With soaring cathedral style ceilings, an indoor outdoor entertainment zone, designer kitchen with stunning bespoke concrete benchtops, chestnut timber flooring and a mezzanine level, the property has the Demmrichs’ signature style.

The property has remained relatively unchanged since the Demmrichs’ sold it in 2015.

The reno was one of the first projects of the reality TV stars, and sold at auction in 2015 for $735,000, smashing the previous street record by close to $150,000.

Since then, the median house price in Killarney Vale has increased from $375,000 to $640,000.

While the vendors are now selling to move interstate, Mr O’Sullivan said that his family have enjoyed being at the home.

“There is a real community feel on this street. My wife is originally from the Central Coast, and we were happy to move here and escape the hustle and bustle of Sydney,” he said.

“The location is great – we are right near the lake and shops, and a really short drive to the beach.”

16 Carlyon St is for sale via Aaron Paull of McGrath Long Jetty and has a price guide of $970,000.
