meet INDIE cat, a 5-meter long ‘pet’ with 36 legs

russian designer marat zalyaev taps into unconventional grounds with his peculiar invention: a 5-meter long paper sculpture of a cat that can become an art piece for the home. made up of 18 blocks and 36 legs, the caterpillar-like model called INDIE CAT was first designed as a 3D digital model that took 2 months of work and required 50 A3 sheets to bring to life.

make your own super-cat sculpture at home

zalyaev converted his design blocks into downloadable PDFs for the curious ones among us to use for building their very own infinitely long cat. the current 3D model ‘is about 5 meters long. but this is not the limit, you can collect 10 or even 100 meters. it all depends on your desire,‘ shares the designer. ‘you just need to print out the template on a colored paper, cut polygonal parts, fold and glue it together.’ the DIY PDF template is available here.
