a modernist masterpiece in los angeles
A 1962-built residence designed by modernist master Richard Neutra is soon to be listed for sale on Sotheby’s. As he is known largely for his works across Southern California, the so-called J.N. Baldwin house exemplifies the Austrian-American architect’s legacy with its location in Woodland Hills. Carefully sited at the end of a long curving driveway on a private hilltop surrounded by a cluster of lemon and orange trees, the project maximizes privacy. While nestled out of site from neighbors, the home opens broadly outward through the architect’s signature ribbon windows toward distant panoramic vistas.
