Grounded in place, masonry solidifies the home’s presence within the surrounds whilst allowing it to endure the harsh coastal conditions. Warmed by timber elements, the exterior is clad in a textural plaster finish, creating a balance between the natural and the built. Internally, a similar balance is achieved through connected, flowing spaces, where warm yet muted tones create a consistent feeling of both scale and lightness. Rich, timber joinery aligns with the outer interior walls, concealing amenities and infusing a handcrafted touch to the residence.
Within the building sits consistent, selected elements that reference the principles of midcentury design, and an alignment is achieved in the brickwork that surrounds and supports the home. The linear nature of bond stacking further adds to the refined, stylish aesthetic, with polished detailing throughout ensuring the focus remains on the outward connections to the landscape. Internally, generous three-metre-tall ceilings fold into one another, offering flexibility and the opportunity to interpret the open plan design for years to come. The openness also allows for introduced furniture, lighting and artwork to become their own sculptural elements.
