This House Was Built to Trap Shade

In Phoenix, opening a house to the outside is not simple. The sun is too strong, the heat is too intense, so the Sol House does something smarter. It doesn’t ignore the desert sun, it controls it.

Designed by The Ranch Mine, this house is organized around a protected courtyard, where shade, light, air, and privacy work together.

The U-shaped layout creates an outdoor room at the center of the home. A deep roof overhang protects the patio and the house opens only where it makes sense.

A desert house that proves openness only works when shade comes first.
