Burleigh Heads is a popular destination for interstate buyers and tourists.

A MASSIVE waterfront apartment bigger than most housing blocks is the hottest Queensland property going under the hammer this weekend.

Data released by realestate.com.au this morning found that a sprawling beachfront apartment in one of the hottest spots on the coast had generated the most views of all homes set for auction across Saturday and Sunday in the state.

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom, double-car space apartment at 1/78 The Esplanade, Burleigh Heads, is about 400sq m and had generated strong enquiry levels ahead of Saturday’s 11am auction, according to agent Scott Wagner.

“It has been unquestionably well above the average number of people in inspections we’d expect,” he said. “Burleigh Heads is a hot spot at the moment so you expect it to be attractive.”

“The square metreage is about the same size as the average house block. We’ve had strong interstate enquiry from people who are already beachfront so they understand the value of having greater volume.”

There is about 200 sqm of balcony space front and back in the property.

“When you buy beachfront Burleigh, you have to accept the heritage-listed Norfolk pines (on the waterfront). It does create a different aspect to being hard up on the beachside.”

He said the property appealed to those who wanted volume and proximity to bars and cafes.

The property was protected from the extremes of coastal exposure by the heritage trees.

It has around 200 sqm of outdoor balcony space across its front and back.

The home brings outdoor inspiration inside.

Mr Wagner said the number of bidders expected on site tomorrow was “still an unknown quantity”.

“With how competitive the Burleigh Heads market is a lot of people play it close to the chest. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.”

Around 156 properties will go under the hammer this weekend across the state, according to REA lists, with 150 on Saturday and 6 on Sunday. Seventy one of those auctions will occur in Brisbane.
