Three chances to snap up prime Rye coastal blocks with a touch of history

THREE side-by-side properties with early links to Rye’s history are all up for grabs at the same time..

They occupy beachfront sites on over 3000sq m combined along prime Point Nepean Rd.

The houses are well maintained with one a weatherboard and the other a concrete build and another offering vacant land.

“The area is tightly held with similar beachfront blocks fetching more than $800,000 and up to $1 million each,” listing agent Mike Phillips said.

The total indicative selling price for all three exceeds $3.7 million but the properties can be bought separately.

“The main drawcards are the location and character of the homes and they are ideal whether as holiday homes or for permanent use and also for any future development,” Mr Phillips said.

The two homes are related to the early history of Rye dating back more than a century when the suburb was little known and had a small population.

The properties have the same owner-investor who bought them several decades ago, with one used as a holiday home and the other for rental income.

SUBURB PROFILE RYE

While the houses do not have aesthetic significance due to the simple construction and multiple alterations and renovations, they are links to Rye’s historical development, according to a heritage assessment report.

The property at No. 2461 comprises 600sq m of land on a corner site and features mature exotic trees.

No. 2463 is more than a century old and was moved to the site from next door nearly 100 years ago. The four-bedroom weatherboard retains some early features but has been altered.

It was once a school master’s home and has links to Rye tourism and education and has a price guide of $1.3-$1.43 million.

2465 Point Nepean Road Rye

No. 2465 is a well-presented holiday home.

No. 2465 is a concrete block house dating back to 1914 when such homes were considered prestige compared to small timber cottages common then.

It has been used for the last 30 years as a holiday home and has easy access to the sand, cafes, boat ramps and pier. The five-bedroom home has a price guide of $1.5-$1.65 million.

The properties retain exotic palm and pine trees, with such large plantings rare due to subdivisions and increased house sizes.
