If you are not prepared for Halloween yet, then you are not alone. 2020 has been a pretty hectic year for many of us and we are still trying to figure out ways in which we can move forward in the safest way possible. Working with what is being called the ‘new normal’ means that Halloween this year will be much different from all the years in the past. You will spend more time at home and even decorating choices are bound to be simpler and more cost-effective than in the years gone by. But we still are bound to host at least a few people come Halloween – close friends and family that you feel safe with. And getting the dining room ready for Halloween is the best place to start holiday decorating this year!

And the dining room is the best place to start holiday decorating this year!

Pops of Orange and Black

If there are two colors that never fail, this time of the year then they are black and orange. A combination of the two is absolutely perfect for the Halloween tablescape even if you do not want to add spookier motifs that include spiders, cobwebs and skulls. Orange and black tableware, décor and centerpieces bring in the Halloween vibe even as the dining space remains chic and classy. Of course, you can always give this dining table a much scarier look with custom pieces like a centerpiece that features skulls, a few blood-stained candles and some spiders thrown into the mix!

Keeping it Classy

Not all our readers want a Halloween dinner table that is over-the-top and filled with bones, skeletons, skulls and all things far too spooky. As we talked about it earlier, it is easy to find that ‘Halloween-inspired look’ by just using colors like white, black and orange for the table. Sometime just white and gold also work well and this look will serve you well beyond Halloween as well with a few minor adjustments. Lighting that is dim and with a touch of red thrown into the mix also elevates the visual appeal of this dining space and ensures your guests feel they are stepping into a Halloween-themed space.

Centerpieces and More

If there is one trend that we have noticed this seasons, then it is that skulls and skeletons seem to be more popular than usual as Halloween decorative pieces. The exact reason for this seems unclear, but adding them to the Halloween tablescape is a fun choice that is also trendy! Then there is the usual lineup of those black skulls on the cake stand to create an easy centerpiece, carved pumpkins with candles, spiders on the credenza behind and a few dark branches and crows among it all. There is a reason why this style of decorating is so very popular this time of the year and you would do very well to embrace it once again.
