This contemporary beach house that is just a few paces away from waves and overlooks the rugged coastal landscape of San Juan de Alima, Mexico is a mesmerizing retreat that effortlessly becomes one with the world around it!

Relaxing pool styled to imitate natural water body next to the ocean

Sitting on a lush green and rocky lot on the coastline, the house invites indoors both the freshness of nature and rugged appeal of the scenery outside with eloquent ease. As vines and plants cover its edifice, rocky outposts welcome you indoors. This love affair with the coast continues in the pool area as well with the relaxing contemporary pool being shaped like a natural pond – one that is left by a receding tide as water accumulates among giant rocks! The entre idea seems simply magical and the execution absolutely spot on.

  • Echo House

    Located in the Elysian Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, the residence and detached artist studio are positioned to perceptually inhabit the adjacent community garden, and present views of the downtown skyline and surrounding hills, in addition to carving out an introspective landscape for the enjoyment of the family. Organized as a staggered sectional volume distributing program over three levels, the residence is situated over the utilitarian spaces located at street level. Living spaces occupy the multi-level second floor with direct access to the outdoors via the front deck and the rear terrace, physically expanding the interior. The third floor, accessed by the expressed scissor stair, consists of the bedrooms and bathrooms. Strategically placed apertures around the residence and studio encourage the spatial reverberation and dialogue between the activities of the home and the multiple and diverse terraces, decks, balconies, and landscapes of the property.

  • Magnolia Residence

    A new residence located in Seattle’s Magnolia neighborhood designed as a simple three-story form wrapped in a cedar rainscreen and stretched across the width of the property to maximize views west toward Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. Spaces are arranged according to the importance of prospect and refuge. Primary social spaces are located on the top floor where the view is best and where kitchen, dining and living flow seamlessly together in one loft-like space. Private functions — sleeping and bathing — occur on the second level screened from the street. The ground floor contains entry, garage and an opening through the house, front to back — a covered exterior gathering space that frames the view of water and mountain for the passerby at the street.
