Multiple Aesthetic Effects with Brutalist Influences | Sky Villa

Located in Nha Trang, a coastal city on the southeast coast of Vietnam, this vacation home boasts an exceptionally privileged location. Carved into the hill, the Sky Villa enjoys a unique ocean view, overlooking the bay and mountains in the background.

The goal was to create a unique and enjoyable experience for guests while optimizing ocean views.

Its design emphasizes the simplicity of construction forms, featuring an exposed concrete slab with brutalist influences and a floating glass cube that visually blends with the construction and the surrounding environment.

The naturally ventilated first floor is entirely open, lacking windows, resembling a large open deck with unobstructed panoramic views, providing an enhanced indoor/outdoor experience. This floor includes the pool, a sunken living room, an entertainment corner, the dining area, and the kitchen. Materials used incorporate natural elements and innovative solutions, such as the mirrored ceiling with multiple reflections, bringing the surrounding vegetation and landscape into the house.

Access to the house is from the lower front of the site, under a suspended pool with a transparent front, adding a dramatic effect and creating a unique sense of arrival. Carved into the hill, the ground floor houses two bedrooms, each with a private garden and jacuzzi to compensate for the lack of a panoramic view on this level, and a cinema room is located at the back of the house.

With large floor-to-ceiling windows, the five bedrooms on the upper floor are fully immersed in the landscape. All bathrooms are open, separated from the bedroom by a partition wall. Interiors are minimalist, providing a sensation of floating above the vastness of the surrounding landscape, all to accentuate the guest experience.

The terrace, like the first floor, adds entertainment activities with a large Jacuzzi open to the sky, a golf putting green, and an outdoor sand lounge.

In contrast to the simplicity of the construction forms, the multiple aesthetic effects of the Sky Villa aim to create an unforgettable experience for guests, maximizing the primary value of the villa, which is the beauty of the landscape that can be enjoyed from every corner.

Construction date: 2018-2019 The renovation and extension of this hermetic and rigorous house to transform it into a place of contemplation and enjoyment of the landscape had, as a guiding principle, the idea of the garden as scenario. The activities that were already happening in the house, as well as those new added to the architectural program have been organized and oriented looking for a more intimate relation from the inside outwards. Three gardens, three scenarios, three expressions. We have designed a grid of full and empty spaces, where to contemplate, wander around and just be part of them, is equally enjoyable, creating a fusion between the being and dwelling. We have chosen neutral materiality and geometry for the corridors, terraces, and indoor spaces, to enhance the presence of the Three Gardens.
