This Greek House Was Tucked Into an Island Slope

Olen is not placed on top of the island. It is divided into the slope.

Designed by Ateno Architecture Studio on the island of Syros, Greece, this retreat is organized through three clear gestures: a plane, a line, and a point.

Each one occupies a different level of the hillside. At the top, a shared plateau creates a place for arrival and gathering. In the middle, a discreet linear volume settles into the terrain.

Near the sea, a quiet circular terrace reduces the architecture to almost nothing: a floor, an edge, and the view of the Aegean.

With curved walls, shaded passages, earthy mineral surfaces, and private outdoor spaces, Olen turns the slope itself into the main design.

A quiet Greek retreat where the architecture does not dominate the island. It becomes part of it.
