This Narrow House Becomes an 80-Meter Journey

Casa Mérida is a house in the historic center of Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico.

Built on an extreme lot only 8 meters wide and 80 meters long, the house turns this unusual proportion into its main idea: a long path of concrete, shadow, stone, vegetation, air, and water.

Instead of fighting the heat with a completely closed interior, Casa Mérida recovers older local strategies: patios, shade, high ceilings, cross ventilation, and a gradual relationship between inside and outside.

The result is not just a concrete house with courtyards. It is a house-path that breathes — a contemporary reinterpretation of climate, memory, and movement, where the narrow lot becomes the architecture itself.
