Moda is a minimalist residences located in Brighton, Australia, designed by mckimm. This project includes basement car parking, a boutique supermarket, four apartments on the first floor, and a distinctive penthouse that extends over the second and third levels. The development site, which covers 800 square meters, has evolved from a former service station to a workshop, and eventually into McKimm’s office space in 2011. Initially, the office utilized only 180 square meters of the available space, indicating a significant underuse of the property. The introduction of MODA aims to optimize the site’s potential. The focal point of MODA is its two-story penthouse, designed with an emphasis on sophistication and tranquil living.

The interior features a selection of high-quality furnishings, strategic lighting that enhances the space’s calming neutral tones, and materials such as travertine and polished plaster to create an organic yet refined atmosphere. The design principles focus on creating a functional, contemporary space that remains inviting and serene. Throughout the penthouse, visitors experience a journey marked by soft textures, subtle curves, and high-quality materials like Venetian plaster and travertine, accented with aged bronze. These elements combine to craft an environment that feels both serene and elevated, embodying a sense of weightlessness and airiness.
