This House Hides Behind Heavy Rock

LG House begins with weight.

At first glance, the house almost looks like a block of stone. Dark, heavy, and closed, its basalt volume gives the facade a powerful presence before the interior is ever revealed.

But this is not just about impact. The basalt connects the house to the place, referencing the paved streets and the abundant dark rock of the region. Against this heavy stone mass, grápia wood, steel, glass, and warm interior materials create a gradual shift from protection to openness.

The house does not begin with transparency.
It begins with stone.

And only after that first layer does it reveal its lighter side: gardens, light, social spaces, pivoting wooden brise-soleils, and a more open relationship with daily life.
