Oculo House does not need numbers or clock hands to show the passing hours. A large opening in the roof lets winter sunlight move slowly from the dining area toward the living room, turning the house itself into a kind of sundial.
The home sits beneath one long horizontal roof. Thick walls provide privacy from the neighboring properties while framing the garden, pool, mountains, and changing light toward the south.
The oculus also responds to the seasons. In winter, the lower sun reaches deep into the living spaces. In summer, the higher sun remains over the covered terrace, helping keep the interiors shaded. Stone, wood, brass, lime plaster, and Mediterranean planting continue the same story as they slowly change over time.
