1930’s House Zurich is a minimal home located in Zurich, Switzerland, designed by Ductus. The property, situated in a quiet neighborhood, had undergone its first renovation in the early 1980s by an architect couple, who introduced white floor tiles characteristic of that era. The latest renovation focused on modernizing essential systems, including heating, windows, and bathrooms, while preserving key elements of both the 1930s design and the earlier 1980s updates.

Ductus carefully balanced historical and contemporary elements, notably using Pink Perlino marble in the bathroom to add warmth and structure. The design also incorporated rounded furniture edges and corner mirrors, nodding to the building’s original architectural style. The white floor tiles, central to the 1980s renovation, were largely preserved, with replacements made only where necessary. These tiles provide a sense of continuity throughout the house, especially in transitional areas and staircases, helping maintain the home’s historical character while blending old and new design approaches.
