Casa ID is a minimal home located in Guastalla, Italy, designed by Archiplanstudio. The refurbishment of an old barn is at the heart of this project. On the ground floor, the spacious void takes on significance through the carefully selected furnishing elements that delineate the essential living spaces. Upstairs, a substantial wardrobe serves not only as storage but also as a defining element, acting as both a barrier and an entry point to the bedrooms and bathroom. Throughout the space, the plasters are deliberately preserved in their weathered state, adding a tactile quality to the original walls and imbuing them with a sense of history. This intentional choice not only honors the building’s past but also encapsulates the passage of time in an abstract yet tangible manner.
