Located at the summit of the mountain below Lion’s Head, Villa OVD 919 is a true architectural masterpiece that captured my admiration from the moment I laid eyes on it. With breathtaking panoramic views, this house is a luxurious haven in Cape Town.

The architectural project faced the challenge of creating a spectacular residence that maximized the views of the mountains and the sea while ensuring the necessary privacy. And I must say that this mission was masterfully accomplished. The open-plan living areas provide a sense of spaciousness and seamlessly connect the indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing residents to enjoy the stunning landscape in any season of the year.

The house harmoniously blends into the mountain slope, and its mountain-facing facade opens up to generous terraces that extend outward. Sliding doors create a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces, and a pool surrounds an outdoor seating area and bar, covered by a roof that extends from the main building.

The use of concrete as the dominant material gives the house a sense of solidity and grandeur, contrasting with the copper roof. The material palette is a true work of art, with elements such as natural oak and bronze inserts throughout the interior joinery.

The house features a series of carefully designed levels and spaces, providing different experiences in each environment. A wooden-clad staircase and a central glass elevator guide visitors through the house’s floors. A notable feature is the strategic use of large glass panels to allow natural light to enter.

The project also incorporates an internal courtyard with a Corten steel wall that creates a tranquil and sheltered atmosphere. Attention to detail is evident in every aspect, from polished concrete floors to bronze finishes.

The upper part of the house stands out with monolithic white concrete beams that appear to float on the glazed facades, emphasizing the importance of the spectacular views. The zinc roof with slim eaves elegantly contrasts with the massive beams and appears to hover over the upper level.

The master suite, strategically positioned to ensure privacy, offers stunning views and includes a garden that reinforces the connection with nature and the views of the sea.
