In times of instability, the purchase of an MCM glamour pad might be out of the question (hey, it might always be out of the question) so it’s always good to see a bona fide pearler come up on the rentals instead. This riverside wonder is no doubt the work of an esteemed Modern architect ( a Donald Spencer perhaps?**) and we can think of a lot less elegant places to wait out a global pandemic than this joint with its clean lines, elemental craftsmanship and dappled Brisbane light filtering through the green.

**Update many thanks to all our QLD readers who immediately advised on the importance of this residence, a c.1966 work by the revered architect Maurice Hurst and one of a very important cluster of MCM homes in the immediate vicinity (let us hope they are all protected).
