One Step Timers Dew Drop Wired LED Lights (Set of 2)

Festive fairy lights. Delicate dew drop fairy lights make every room feel more magical. They’re a pretty alternative to standard string lights—and the wire is bendable and moldable, giving them more structure than typical string lights, too. These lights are bright (as in, smart!): They come with a 6-hour self timer, so they will automatically turn off after 6 hours. That means you can set them for a party and they won’t stay on all night. Choose from 3 lengths (6’, 9’, or 17’) and 2 colors (copper or silver), all in sets of 2. If you’d like to hang your lights outside, we suggest wrapping the battery box in a plastic bag—it isn’t waterproof (but the wires and lights are!) His String Shelving (1949) was an immediate hit, and one of Strinning’s original orders was for offices in the new UN headquarters designed by Le Corbusier and Oscar Niemeyer in New York. Easy to install, beautifully finished and available in a variety of sizes, it continues to be prized by architects and homeowners today. The Little Book of Hygge

Embrace Hygge (pronounced hoo-ga) and become happier with this definitive guide to the Danish philosophy of comfort, togetherness, and well-being. Why are Danes the happiest people in the world? The answer, says Meik Wiking, CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen, is Hygge. Loosely translated, Hygge—pronounced Hoo-ga—is a sense of comfort, togetherness, and well-being. “Hygge is about an atmosphere and an experience,” Wiking explains. “It is about being with the people we love. A feeling of home. A feeling that we are safe.” Hygge is the sensation you get when you’re cuddled up on a sofa, in cozy socks under a soft throw, during a storm. It’s that feeling when you’re sharing comfort food and easy conversation with loved ones at a candlelit table. It is the warmth of morning light shining just right on a crisp blue-sky day. The Little Book of Hygge introduces you to this cornerstone of Danish life, and offers advice and ideas on incorporating it into your own life, such as: Get comfy. Take a break. Be here now. Turn off the phones. Turn down the lights. Bring out the candles. Build relationships. Spend time with your tribe. Give yourself a break from the demands of healthy living. Cake is most definitely Hygge. Live life today, like there is no coffee tomorrow. From picking the right lighting to organizing a Hygge get-together to dressing hygge, Wiking shows you how to experience more joy and contentment the Danish way. The Touch: Spaces Designed for the Senses

It is often said that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. The Touch, the new book from Kinfolk and Norm Architects published by gestalten, presents an alternative: that good design is not only visually appealing but engages all of the human senses. Over 288 pages, The Touch explores the building blocks of human-centric design and welcomes you into over 25 spaces that exemplify how haptic design elements can provide a richer quality of living. In addition to stunning photography and interviews with design industry leaders such as John Pawson, Juhani Pallasmaa and David Thulstrup, The Touch also details philosophical and art history references that reflect the tradition of design and color theory. For a deeper understanding of the concepts explored, an appendix profiles architects such as Lina Bo Bardi and Richard Neutra; heritage design pieces that helped influence this movement are also listed in the book. The Touch is the first book to emerge from the longstanding friendship and creative partnership between Kinfolk founder Nathan Williams and Jonas Bjerre Poulsen of Norm Architects—two leading design authorities who base their practices in Copenhagen, and have previously collaborated on projects including the design of The Kinfolk Gallery. The Touch is available for pre-order now. Copies will arrive internationally from October 10th, and from September 5th within Europe. Publisher: Gestalten Photo Courtesy of Gestalten

Ton Valencia Chair

Industrial designers Alex Selma and Clara del Portillo met at an exhibition for young designers in 2004. Two years later, they founded their studio and launched their first collection as Yonoh, an ambigram – a word that retains meaning even when its letters are flipped over or reversed – they invented to express the bicephalic (two-headed) character of their own approach. For the furniture company Ton, they created the Valencia Collection (2018), named for the Spanish city where Yonoh is based. With its ergonomic form, solid wood construction, steam-bent legs and generous backrest, Valencia has all the makings of a classic that will last for generations but never bore. Chair stacks up to six high. Made in the Czech Republic. Photo Courtesy of Design Within Reach

The Scandinavian Home: Interiors Inspired by Light

Discover classic and contemporary Scandinavian style with specially commissioned photography of homes in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. Scandinavia is famous for its distinctive style: homes are pared-back and simple, and form and function are combined to create aesthetically pleasing and practical interiors. Scandinavians are inspired by light, having an abundance of it in summer but so little of it in winter, and house designs tend to maximize the amount of natural light that enters the home, and allow the inhabitants to make the most of outdoor life during the summer. Similarly, nature and the weather are major influences: homes are made warm and cozy for the freezing winter months—not just literally with log burners, but also through incorporating wood and natural materials. Here Niki Brantmark, owner of the interior design blog My Scandinavian Home, presents a wide-ranging collection of these beautiful homes and explores how the Scandinavian lifestyle is reflected in them all. The first chapter, Urban Living, features styles ranging from minimalist to bohemian, and pale palettes to dramatic dark colors. By contrast, the Country Homes tend to have a softer, calmer feel, through color and textiles, in line with a slower pace of life. Finally, the spectacular Rural Retreats include a mountain cabin, beach house, and rustic summer cottage, and demonstrate how having somewhere to escape to is so important to many Scandinavians. This collection of stunning interiors will put Scandi style within every reader’s reach. Publisher: CICO Books Photo Courtesy of Amazon
