What happens when a wildfire completely transforms a landscape?
Sunshine Canyon House, designed by Renée del Gaudio, sits high in the mountains above Boulder, Colorado. Built on land reshaped by fire, this home reinterprets the historic barn architecture of the region while responding to a steep alpine site.
Two linear volumes step down the hillside, capturing views of the surrounding mountains while creating a contemporary home deeply connected to its landscape. Weathering steel, large glass openings, and a gabled roof give the house both resilience and a timeless rural character.
In this video, we explore how architecture can emerge from destruction and transform a burned landscape into a place of life again.
