Inspired by bulging pods found in nature, Shanghai-based design studio One Week designed a seating collection that mimics this naturally rounded shape. The Pod Collection consists of a single armless seat, a single seat with armrests, and a two-seater sofa with armrests. The common denominator between all three seats is their organic, bulbous shape that makes up the backrests and arms.
While the pods in nature have seeds encased in them, these pod seats are made of high-resilience sponge, providing the user a soft and comfortable experience. The collection is clad in Kvadrat 3D-knitted fabric, a material made of 68% new wool, 22% nylon, and 10% polyester. Not only is this fabric soft to the touch, it also meets the needs of the collection’s rounded forms.
