The Golden Age of Hollywood was an era that defined cinema, paving the yellow-brick road for the film industry to flourish. Though it has not only influenced how so many of us like to be entertained, but the way we like to decorate our interiors, too. In this blog post, we’re going to explore the Hollywood Glam style, and how to incorporate it into your home. What is Hollywood Glam interior design style? Following the great depression, people sought to escape their woes by cheaper means, causing a boom in the film industry. In response, directors and actors produced more movies than ever before, catalysing technological advancement. Better sound and picture, paired with the public’s need for distraction, saw costume and set designers ramping up the quality–and luxury–of their creations. This came in the form of extravagant details, including colour, texture, composition and finishes. And so, the opulent Hollywood Glam style was born, inevitably oozing out of the big screens disguised as charming musicals, witty rom-coms, and epic adventure movies, following its unsuspecting watchers all the way back to their homes… What are the elements of Hollywood Glam style? With its lavish fabrics, fine details and high-end design, Hollywood Glam is all about inviting opulence into everyday living. Since the 1930s, it has been honed into a classic interior design style, blending elements ranging from Greek revival to Art Deco to mid-century modern for an utterly timeless look that will never fall from fashion. But despite drawing inspiration from so many different sources, this look is far from feeling cluttered. In fact, Hollywood Glam interiors are refined, upscale, and inherently luxurious. Here are some key features… Glass accents Metals: silver or chrome, brass or gold Bold colours Monochrome Contrast in colour and pattern Mirrored and high-gloss lacquered finishes Textures and patterns Botanical motifs Opulent materials, such as wood, marble and velour Animal prints Chevron and lattice designs Sunbursts, particularly mirrors Read another article:Marvellous Marble: 5 Ways To Style Your Home With StoneTo find out more about our luxury interior design service, click here. What colour is Hollywood Glam style interior design? Also known as Hollywood Regency, the Hollywood Glam style is a celebration of luxurious colours and materials – from bold jewel tones to dark woods, stark contrasting monochrome and precious metals. Whilst gold and brass details are ideal for adding a touch of grandeur, silver and chrome aid in emphasising the grandeur of other pieces. Neutrals, as well as the classic combination of black and white are also hallmarks of this aesthetic. Both of which work fabulously to highlight bright and bold accent colours including blush pinks, emerald greens and rich teals. But remember: sophistication requires moderation. When it comes to creating tasteful, expensive-looking interiors, it is entirely possible to have too much of a good thing!
