Rockbound is a cedar-clad house designed by the Canadian studio Omar Gandhi Architects, located on a rocky hillside by the sea in Hubbards, Nova Scotia. Covering 4,100 square feet, the residence features two stacked and interconnected boxes that naturally weather to match the pale gray of the sky. The house is designed to embrace stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and nearby islands while protecting against the bay’s strong winds and storms. Naturally weathering materials were chosen so the house can tell the story of its place in the landscape. The innovative structure includes a system of micro-piles to ensure stability, and the interior design harmonizes warm tones of tiles and millwork with the coastal environment, providing a serene and inviting retreat.
