Modern Oasis with Mediterranean Design Inspiration | Villa Sussurro

In the idyllic setting of São Miguel do Gostoso, amidst tall palm trees on the Brazilian Atlantic coast, emerges Casa Sussurro, a project by Italian architect Davide Andracco. This work balances contemporary innovation with respect for the natural environment, making it ideal for an Italian-Brazilian family seeking elegant and comfortable living. The house is oriented east-west to take advantage of natural light and ventilation. The layout of the house is divided into three distinct sectors, visible externally, defining the volume and aesthetics of the project.

The first sector, the heart of the residence, is a spacious living room with an island kitchen, designed to promote family interaction. With a ceiling height of 3.6 meters, it maximizes comfort and socializing. A spacious balcony opens up to a garden with native flora, integrating the interior and exterior.

In the second volume, services and facilities are located, differentiated by height and clad in local stone. The third sector contains three suites with bathrooms and an additional bedroom, ensuring privacy and independence. The sleeping area, on an upper level, takes advantage of sunlight and stands out in the surroundings. The building openings are strategically positioned for sun protection and intense rains. The design includes handmade iron frames, 2.5 meters in height, highlighting the entry of light and the building’s aesthetics. The walls, with a thickness of 60 cm and a double layer, provide superior insulation and elegance. The gray micro-cement floors harmonize with the minimalist style, and the neutral color palette emphasizes light and spaciousness.

An external stone volume, reminiscent of Andracco’s Mediterranean origins, creates an intriguing contrast. This block houses the bathroom windows and technical facilities, integrating with the landscape. The house features a flat roof and a panoramic terrace, offering views of the surroundings. Casa Sussurro is a landmark in architecture that values essentiality and innovation, reflecting Andracco’s ability to create spaces that interact and merge with the environment, providing a unique living experience.

  • San Antonio House

The trapezoidal tracing of the property is what defined the construction of this house into three clearly settled volumes. Vegetation also plays a protagonist role in the design of this house, both outdoors and indoors. The exterior trees enclose the house generating distinct tons of shades and colours during the different seasons of the year. Within the interior, the unruly green vegetation, contrasts with the stone floors and solid walls, reaching a perfect sense of balance. The entrance, a double height lobby that creates contrasting sensations and distinct visual ending points originated by water mirrors, light shafts, a tree and a staircase. The walls that shape this area, divide the spaces into private and public areas. The ground floor, is organized into two blocks each with a different purpose: The left side, is a white solid cube that integrates the study and the master bedroom and is separated from the other block by a water mirror and a yard that generates the desired privacy, peace and tranquility. The right side, the social area, is a rectangle closed to the west by a rigid wall and opened towards the interior of the house through large floor to ceiling glass walls, giving sober transparency to the yard with views to the garden and the central courtyard. The different angles within the construction achieve visual ending points with great character, as well as, enhancing the sensations provoked by the pure whites that evolve into mixed tones as the day and the seasons go by.
